How it works
Why use it
The PDF is unlocked by your browser on your own device. Neither the file nor the password is ever sent to us.
Works with AES-256, AES-128 and older RC4 protection, from Adobe Acrobat, Word, banks and scanners.
An unlocked PDF can be merged, compressed, edited and signed with all our other tools.
Questions, answered
Only if the PDF opens without one and just blocks printing or copying. A PDF that asks for a password to open is properly encrypted: you need that password, and we do not try to guess or crack it.
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
Yes, for your own files and files you have the right to use, such as your bank statements or documents shared with you. Do not unlock files you are not allowed to change.
Passwords are case-sensitive, so check capital letters and the keyboard language. Some bank statements use your date of birth or part of your account number as the password.
