Why use it

Unlock Excel with ToolsCampus

Private by design

The workbook is unlocked by your browser on your own device. Neither the file nor any password is ever sent to us.

Nothing else changes

Only the protection settings are removed. Values, formulas, formatting, charts and macros stay exactly as they were.

Every kind of lock

Protected sheets, a locked sheet structure, "password to modify" and read-only recommended, plus the open password when you know it.

Questions, answered

Unlock Excel questions

Can you unlock a sheet without the password?

Yes. Sheet and workbook protection only stops editing; Microsoft says it is not a security feature. The settings are removed and the sheets can be edited again.

Can you open a workbook without its password?

No. A workbook that asks for a password to open is encrypted, so you need that password. We do not try to guess or crack it.

Is it legal to unlock an Excel sheet?

Yes, for your own files and files you are allowed to edit, for example a template you made and forgot the password to. Do not unlock files you have no right to change.

Which files work?

Excel 2007 and newer: .xlsx and .xlsm. Old .xls files must be saved as .xlsx in Excel first.
