Image to Text converter AI

Need the words from a picture? This image to text converter reads screenshots, scanned pages and phone photos with text recognition (OCR) and gives you the text to copy, edit and paste anywhere. Paragraphs stay together, two-column pages are read in the right order, and table columns are kept apart, so you can extract text from an image in seconds instead of typing it out.

Why use it

Image to Text with ToolsCampus

Photos and screenshots

Tilted, sideways and upside-down photos are turned and straightened, and small screenshot text is enlarged before it is read.

Keeps the reading order

Headings and paragraphs stay apart, two columns are read left column first, and table columns are separated by tabs so they paste into Excel or Google Sheets.

Check before you copy

Unsure words are marked yellow, so you know exactly where to look before you use the text.

Questions, answered

Image to Text questions

How do I extract text from an image?

Choose your picture above. The converter reads it and shows the text in a box, then you click Copy text or Download .txt. It works the same for a JPG, a PNG screenshot or a photo, and no sign-up is needed.

Can I convert a photo or picture to text?

Yes. Photo to text works best when you take the picture from straight above, in good light, with the page filling most of the frame. Blurry photos and handwriting give weaker results.

Which languages can it read?

English text and numbers are read best. Urdu, Arabic and other right-to-left scripts are not supported yet.

Is my picture uploaded?

Yes, on this page only. To read the text, your pictures are sent to our own server, converted in memory and deleted as soon as the conversion ends. They are never saved to disk, stored, shared or used for anything else.

Is there a limit?

Up to 25 pictures at a time, 15 MB per picture, and 25 pictures per visitor in any 24 hours, shared with our other OCR tools, because reading pictures takes a lot of work on our server.
